Writer's Block

A writer struggles to come up with a story, but discovers that his biggest obstacle may in fact be his imagination. A silent short I shot on an old Bolex H16 Reflex camera. This was a really fun project, and my first on real motion picture film. It took most of a day, lots of practicing takes to get timing right, and lots of moving the camera from place to place between shots, but I'm pleased with how it turned out. I took out one bad take, did some color correction, cleaned up some of the edits between shots, and reframed it to 1:1.78, but other that that it appears straight from the reel as I shot it in-camera. Shot on one 100-foot roll of 16mm Kodak Tri-X Black and White Reversal film. Starring Andrus Jones, Katharine Davidson, and Bigtail the Fish. Directed by Peter Davidson.
